Welcome to Colony Pool

Colony Recreation and Civic Association, INC.

Trunk-or-Treat Registration

Are you an adult that loves Halloween, especially seeing all those great costumes? Do you live on a quiet street that doesn’t get a lot of trick-or-treating traffic? We have the solution for you!

Colony Pool is hosting its second annual trunk-or-treat on Halloween (Wednesday, 10/31). We’re currently registering trunks so we can provide a great experience for the local community. Registration is open to anyone in the community, so if you have family or friends that are interested in decorating a trunk, please share this information with them.

This neighborhood is also a great place to take your kids trick-or-treating. So you can always bring your family with you and trick-or-treat in the surrounding neighborhood (as long as someone is available to hand out treats at your car). If you’re not able to host a trunk, please do come partake in the fun!

Don’t know what a trunk-or-treat is? The idea is that adults decorate the trunks of their cars and park them in a selected parking lot (in this case, the pool’s). Kids then have a safe environment to move from trunk to trunk to get candy. Games and interactive experiences are encouraged — we want the adults to have as much fun as the kids! Here’s a more detailed explanation.

Let’s Talk Money! (with the Colony Pool Treasurer)

2018 was a great year. With a final boost from the August/September Membership Special we ended the year with 27 more member families than in 2017! Now that everything is packed up for the winter and the kids are back at school, it’s time to start planning for 2019.

Colony Pool’s resident money man, treasurer Kyle Harrington, is hosting a Pool Finance Meeting at his house on Monday, 10/8 at 6 p.m. He Will grill burgers and hot dogs and asks that anyone interested please RSVP. He also requests that those attending bring a side dish and notes that kids are welcome (with entertainment provided by Tommy 😀).

The conversation will include:

  • the budget process
  • a review of the books
  • a discussion of big ticket items for 2019, including pool relining effort and membership costs.

Can’t attend, but have questions? Send them to us or talk to a Board Member at the September 28 member dinner.

September Member Dinner

Come welcome fall with your friends at Colony Pool on Friday, September 28th. Doors will open at 6:00 for the 2nd Member Dinner of 2018.

Bring your dinner, a side or dessert to share, and family-friendly games to play. The pool’s grill is available to cook-your-own if you like and can anyone say s’mores? Check out the awesome fire pit that was just installed thanks to the hard work of Bobby Rogers, Jake Farone, Jon and Gavin Monteith and design help from Chris Monteith and Sabine Rogers.

We recommend that you if you have portable chairs that you bring them just in case they’re needed.

Pool Board Meeting

Come out to the pool on Tuesday, September 18 at 6:00 pm to share your input about the last year with the board. They’re excited to hear from you and look forward to any suggestions that will make 2019 a better year than 2018!

This is also your chance to volunteer to serve on the board as the new board members will be installed this month and a new president will be voted in. Curious what it takes to be a board member? You’ll need to commit to about an hour a month for meetings during the off-season (through April) and then will help get the pool ready for opening day in May. Feel free to reach out to current board members with your questions about the commitment during the summer.

If you’re not able to commit to being on the board, but would still like to pitch in and help this off-season, there are other ways to volunteer and get involved. Also be on the lookout announcements for social events happening at the pool this fall.

Closing Day

Closing day is Sunday, September 9, 2018. The Pool will be open from 1:00-5:00 pm, and we need LOTS of help closing down for the winter! Please come out, have a fun last day at the pool and then, at 5:00 pm help clear the pool deck, pack up the snack bar or several other jobs we need to do in order to secure our pool after another great year!

Labor Day

The pool opens early on Labor, so come hang out with your pool friends one last time before the kids head back to school!

  • Pool Hours: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
  • Pancake breakfast from 9:00-10:00 am (it’s free!)
  • Cornhole Tournament starts at 10:15
    • sign-up at the front desk
  • Bring canned goods to donate to the Foodbank!
